I do triathlons and just read an article in a magazine about SL having triathlon training. I found a link to an article about the same group of people and thought it was kind of interesting.

This is unusual even for second life, and at the same time, it doesn't shock me. With the fitness movement, and Second Life's desire to translate everything into its world, it was a natural movement. Still, I'm amazed it came to this.
Well, if you're going to be working out on a machine at home anyway, why not work out at home with other people doing the same thing? From what it sounds like, instead of watching pre-recorded trainers on a DVD, you're working with the trainers and also interacting with other people with the same interests in real time, so it makes sense to me.
What I don't really get is making your avatar hop on a turbo trainer, but that's just my practical side speaking. I don't think SL avatars need to exercise to stay fit, but I guess it works with the atmosphere.
